Sometimes anniversaries are bad days, sometimes they’re bad months. You can ask for extra help during these times from therapists and close friends and families. In my case, the lead-up to certain days and the downshift after the fact were usually harder than the actual anniversary days. When able, I planned for comforting, easy things to do (e.g., museum visits) the day of and tried to be easier on myself in the days around the anniversary.
